DISCERNMENT

WHY ARE THEY NOT CAPABLE?

Discernment - the maze of confusion

a 20 minute read

Discernment is defined as sound judgment.  It is also defined as God’s wisdom bestowed on those deemed worthy by God to receive it.  Receiving and acting upon this divine guidance is discernment in action.

Daily we are barraged by the news and personal happenings that illustrate our society’s lack of sound judgment and the absence of Godly wisdom. Many of us perceive these times as frightful, possibly the markings of Biblical end times.

Like you, I am bewildered and seeking answers.

But I know this:  if we all possessed the ability to discern, we would not be in the predicament we currently find ourselves.

Numerous factors can impede our ability to discern. These factors are not all easy to identify because they are intricately entwined with one another.

I liken these contributing factors to a coat of a thousand vibrant colors with threads of many tight and twisted knots.  This complexity obscures the identification of many influences, which makes solutions challenging to find.

MAIN CAUSATIVE FACTORS

Information

Bias and Prejudice

Critical Thinking Competency

Emotions and Emotional Attachments

Groupthink and the Power of the Tribe

Over-Reliance on Authority and Those “In The Know”

The Crux of the Matter

INFORMATION

Information is necessary for discernment.  But information can present many problems for the person striving for the ability to discern.

Here are significant problems in obtaining information today:

  • Lack of necessary and correct information
  • Wrong or deceptive information
  • Too much information that is overwhelming and often contradictory
  • Lack of intellectual curiosity

Lack of necessary information.

Many people don’t pay attention despite the plethora of available data.

They have piano recitals, swim meets, and birthday parties.  They often volunteer at little leagues and community centers, have demanding careers, and have active social lives.  Something has to give because there isn’t enough time, and it is often knowledge about the world around them.

I was on an early morning Zoom call recently with about 60 people.  As we entered the waiting room, I joked that I was ready for a nap as I had already read the news for about 2 hours.

I was stunned at the number of people who spoke up, saying they no longer read or listen to the news.  They don’t want to hear about “how many died overnight and all the other issues.”  There was a chorus of agreement.

These folks made the conscious decision to be uninformed and have no qualms about sharing that decision with others.  Unfortunately, many agree.

Consequently, when controversies or tragedies enter their communities, these people rush to seek information, often too quickly and too often from those with a bias or hidden agenda.

They go from having no information straight to having possible “misinformation,” a common euphemism for wrong information or lies.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

Hosea 4:6

Wrong or Deceptive Information

Our education system is a lying, deceiving machine.  It was infiltrated by Marxist ideology long ago.  Now we have a systemic problem from preschool to graduate school.

Generations have been adversely affected. Those indoctrinated do not seem to have access to their innate ability to think independently.

Our influencing parties who were educated in this system are journalists, media personalities, woke corporations, celebrities, politicians, bureaucrats, LGBTQ fanatics…   And many of these have abdicated their ability to discern.  They promulgate misleading, deceptive information.

They created the monstrous mainstream media, a primary culprit in our information warfare.

Do you ever wonder why the mainstream media doesn’t go into Ukraine’s war zone or to the southern border?  Numerous journalists of yore would be on the ground with cameras to give us live, accurate, up-to-date information.  This ought to make every American wonder.

“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge.”

Daniel J. Boorstin

No Interest, Motivation, or Intellectual Curiosity

Jack and Jill’s self-talk goes like this:  I am okay, my family is okay, my income is secure, and no one is bothering me.  Everything is good.

Jack and Jill don’t care about information. Meanwhile….

  • One town over, there are long lines of hungry people seeking free food at the community pantry.  Jack and Jill don’t know enough even to ask “why.”
  • The ruling authorities are penalizing farmers for doing their jobs, making it impossible for them to continue growing food and raising cows, chickens, and pigs.
  • Unscrupulous people are buying up farmland in an all-out effort to control food production.
  • The food we consume is being poisoned.  (Watch your labels, but don’t assume they are honest and accurate.  Can you identify what ingredients shouldn’t be there?)
  • People have died from a man-made pandemic, and many now seek treatment for vaccine injuries at minute clinics and area hospitals.
  • The United States funded the pandemic and forced vaccination.
  • The ruling authorities are thieves stealing from taxpayers, sending money to a war they lie about, and then laundering the money back to the U.S. ostensibly into political campaigns.
  • Elections at all levels are manipulated for the win under the guise of democracy.
  • Fundraising powerhouses gather money with questionable tactics to help with the rigging, and they continue unabated.
  • Corrupt governments, media, leaders, and corporations deceive with lies and accuse those who discern skillfully with misinformation.  Then they whip out their ‘lawfare’ strategies which have nothing to do with the laws of our land, but plenty to do with pure thuggery and communist tactics by our fourth arm of government, the unelected intelligence agencies.
  • Governments, media, and corporations often mislead us until the new, most immediate dastardly deed is completed, and then they show no shame but rather smug, sinister victory.
  • Innocent children are snatched and never heard from again.
  • Citizens wonder about how much influence our intelligence agencies have in ‘mass shootings’ and how much infiltrating to frame and incarcerate political opponents.

In other words, while our world is on fire, Jack and Jill are fretting over what to wear to their 25th high school reunion.

They have limited knowledge, wrong information, and no intellectual curiosity. They and their children are the Stepford family.

Commonly, single older folks, especially childless people who prefer to watch sitcoms until bedtime, can also fall into this willfully ignorant group. They reveal their feelings – they have no stake in the game and want peace in their later years.  It is hard to blame them.

“Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My Priest.  Since you have forgotten the law of your God. I also will forget your children.”

Hosea 4:6

Too Much Information

Having too much information is often made more challenging because much of it is contradictory. Conflicting agendas abound.

Too much information leads to confusion and can be challenging to organize, prioritize, understand, and judge. It can rapidly become overwhelming.   It can cause sleepless nights and frustration.

Most importantly, it makes discernment much more difficult.

“For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.”

Corinthians 14:33

BIAS AND PREJUDICE

Bias and prejudice influence our thoughts and our ability to have sound judgment.

Do you know anyone sufficiently self-circumspect to see their biases or prejudices?  It certainly isn’t common.  But even if they can see their own bias, in all likelihood, today, they will support it to their last breath.

I asked my college roommate what she thought about the missing children at the border.  She said she knew nothing about it.  I asked if she had watched the testimony of Rodas before Congress, emphasizing that it was a non-partisan testimony.

With no curiosity about either the testimony or the missing children, she said, “Let’s face it.  What you read and watch, I will never read and watch.  And what I read and watch, you will never read and watch.”

Mind you, this is not a woman without a heart.  She is a caring person to all she befriends.  She volunteers weekly at a center for the blind and has done so for seven years.  She spent her entire career helping troubled youth create a better life.

(9550) BREAKING NEWS: HHS Whistleblower Claims US Government Is ‘Middleman’ In Child Trafficking Operation – YouTube

However, she couldn’t consider the Congressional testimony because she resented and rejected what she perceived to be my own bias.

It is a double-edged sword.  If she acknowledges the data presented in the testimony, she reinforces the truth of my perceived bias and denies her own, an act many are incapable of.

Our elected officials, charged with sound judgment, confuse truth with bias and prejudice daily. I trust you have noticed.

Some folks, like my college roommate, can see and acknowledge their own bias, but knowing your bias is not the same as refusing to be influenced by it.

“But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.”

James 2:9

CRITICAL THINKING COMPETENCY

Did you ever meet someone who consistently made bad decisions?  In contrast, do you know someone with the Midas touch?

The individual with the Midas touch perfected critical thinking skills.  They can go within for logical contemplation and analysis and emerge wisely victorious.

Although the media shows us a clown world where logical thinking is often not applied to the point of absurdity, I see indications that critical thinking is still alive.

For one thing, I am heartened by the fact that chess has seen a resurgence since the implementation of the lockdown.  Playing chess is outstanding practice for acquiring critical thinking skills.

Also, today, many students must take a logic class because it is a prerequisite to study many complex disciplines that require critical thinking skills, i.e., mathematics, computer science, science methodology, philosophy, and supposedly even linguistics.

After all, to my knowledge, our biased and indoctrinating teachers do not yet appear to be contaminating our logic classes.

Another sound indicator that critical thinking is alive, although not necessarily well, is our place in history.

Each era in the past had its mega-critical thinkers, with the likes of Einstein, Da Vinci, Aristotle, and Sir Isaac Newtown. The list is endless.

We, too, in our age, have mega brains, like Elon Musk, Yo-Yo Ma, JK Rowling, Warren Buffet, and Tom Berners-Lee.  It is encouraging that our clown world is not yet depriving us of top-tier thought and capabilities.

However, we must not confuse critical thinking as the be-all and end-all for attaining discernment.  That would be completely incorrect.  It is simply one contributing factor. As I said, the inability to discern is a coat of a thousand vibrant colors with threads of many twisted and tight knots.

If you doubt this, look at all the intelligent people throughout history, including today, who have used their critical thinking skills, but to harm.  We can start our endless list with Epstein, Fauci, Daszak, Soros, Hitler, Harari, Gates, Klaus Schwab, and Xi, among others.

I will mention one fourth and final reason for the hope that should not be downplayed.  You, dear reader, and others are interested in reading an article on discernment, and I am interested in writing one.

“The wise person has his eyes in his head, but the fool walks in darkness.”

 Ecclesiastes 2:14

EMOTION AND EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT

Humans have limitations. Emotions are often one of them.

Emotion can prevent a person from clearly assessing a situation and making a discerned decision.

A friend of mine, two times a mother, is a one-issue voter and a Sunday school teaching Catholic.  She refuses to vote for anyone who wants to place any restriction on abortion.  Her emotions surrounding the abortion issue are so intense that she seems to compromise a core ingredient of her essence.

Or is it the other way around?  Is she cheating on her religious values or her liberal ones?

Another friend is a hard-core conservative who, as the saying goes, takes no prisoners.  When the state election took place, however, he voted liberal.  Why?  Because his son had recently told him that he was gay.  Voting conservatively was no longer possible because it would have been ‘like stabbing his son,’ whom he loves deeply and unconditionally.

Sometimes people in these conflicting situations seek guidance from others. Perhaps they talk with a psychologist, a teacher, a member of the clergy, or a relative or friend.  This approach can present a massive problem. It is possible that their source of guidance may not be a discerning individual.

I ask you, what good outcome can come from bad advice applied to an already difficult situation?

My two friends illustrate inner conflicts with a high level of emotion. But intense emotions do not always create internal strife.

You may be solid in your hate of a politician or political party, a foaming-in-the-mouth kind of hate. There may be many who stand in solidarity with you.  Here we may, and I emphasize MAY, have an unfortunate case of groupthink, a concept discussed later.

Unbridled emotion can result in cognitive dissonance.  Discernment can be nearly impossible.

“If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you…”

Rudyard Kipling

GROUPTHINK and THE POWER of the TRIBE

This is a biggy.

Your tribe is your linked community.  It can be determined by blood, religion, ethnicity, social status, neighborhood, sex, hometown, profession, politics, passions or hobbies, and more.

You can belong to more than one tribe.  Your tribes may not share the same values.  This is readily apparent in our splintered society, but even in older days, opposing tribes could share some common members.

For instance, those who lived through the early stages of rock and roll remember that the home front, namely parents, grandparents, and church, often did not support the music, the groupies, the dancing, the concerts like Woodstock, the drugs, and the accompanying war protests.

Today, maybe everyone in your base tribe is anti-gun and avidly pro-gun control.  But perhaps you own a gun, maybe two.  You live in a conflicting multi-tribe world.

Nevertheless, your tribes define your beliefs, social status, interests, and, ultimately, your core in all its complexity and duplicity.

A tribe’s beliefs that are primarily void of critical thinking and often even void of discussion are called groupthink. With groupthink, there is a large-scale buy-in of a specific view by the tribe members.  There may be no logic involved, no choice of something different, no inclination to question, just the sheep following the sheep.

In other words, these groupthink beliefs are givens and not typically questioned.  They just are.

Today, our two-party political system is a classic example of two competing tribes.  Not unlike the Montagues and the Capulets, each believes they have moral and intellectual superiority over the other.  Rhinos sit in the middle, making them akin to tax collectors in ancient Rome.

If a tribe is exhibiting groupthink, keep your eyes on the group’s extroverts and introverts.  It is the introverts who think more.  Therefore, introverts are likelier to question the tribe’s intentions and beliefs, often only silently for fear of the ramifications of speaking up.

The extroverts, who thrive on belonging, will forcefully follow the way of the collective, sometimes even to the desolation or destruction of a society, as many believe we are witnessing today.

But we are not simply witnessing our own destruction.  We are participating in it.  How?  By our inability to discern.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:1

OVER-RELIANCE ON AUTHORITY AND THOSE “IN THE KNOW”

In the category of Authority, we can place experts, media, corporations, governments, NGOs, celebrities, social media, religion, the ‘influencers,’ and more.  Authorities can be ethical or unethical.

It is up to each of us to choose our leaders wisely.

A new friend asked me this question recently, how did I know not to take the Covid vaccine?  I said there were four overriding considerations:

  1. The powers that be thought it best to change the definition of vaccine to fit the new concoction.
  2. The trials were glaringly insufficient.
  3. There was an aggressive campaign to force vaccination, fully equipped with threats and ostracism.
  4. They gave us no legal recourse for ‘adverse events,’ a euphemism for death and injury. Of all four considerations, for me, this one was the deal-breaker.

This discerning new friend then asked the corollary.  Why did I think so many people proceeded with getting the shot once, twice, or even more times?

You know my answer: the inability to discern.  Mindlessly following a party, a government, or scientists is not discernment.

In my opinion, a significant percentage of the population has an over-reliance or over-confidence in authority.  They believe the government’s functions are honest and trustworthy. They further think that the government does its homework before making a decision, especially one that affects the masses.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Even if they don’t hold their government’s decisions as sacrosanct, they hold themselves innocent of bad decision-making.  They are exonerated because they didn’t make the actual decision. Instead, they abdicated their decision to the “experts” or authorities, their undeserving surrogates.

In other words, conforming tribes either believe that the authorities make the correct decisions or that they, as tribe members, cannot be held responsible for the leaders’ decisions.

If and when they realize they have been deceived, they often change from blindly following the government’s guidelines to feeling victimized.

Furthermore, trust is mortally injured when a group knows it has been betrayed, such as in the case of us with the pharmaceutical industry and our governments. I know many now who will never receive nor will they ever give their children another vaccine, at least not voluntarily.

This destruction of trust can be excruciatingly painful, especially if it is because of the death or severe injury of a loved one.

Because of the over-reliance and over-confidence in government, we consent to many uncivilized horrors and unwise or ‘undiscerned’ decisions. Such atrocities would not exist were our ruling authorities capable of discernment. Nor would they exist if a large percentage of the population had wisdom and pushed back against bad decisions en masse.

These horrors include war, drug running, weather modification, threats of deadly climate change, poisoned geoengineered foods, child labor, adult and child sex trafficking, chemtrails, perverse acceptance of crime including illegal immigration and drug cartels, destruction of our food chain, our financial system, and destruction of foreign lands in pursuit of the global superiority, natural resources, power, control, and financial gain.

“All warfare is based on deception.”

General Sun Tzu

Here is another fact to consider.  When a sub-group of a tribe acts as a tyrannical ruling authority, the entire tribe runs the severe risk of being unable to discern.  Satanic cults are an example, as are misguided activists who protest with animalistic, primal screams and frightful violence.  Nazis and the Mafia hold high places here, too. Communist leaders like Xi Jinping find their homes in this category as well.

To our list of ruling authorities, we must add today’s globalists, the tyrannical elites.  This sub-group plots to destroy the basic tenets of societies worldwide. And the sheeple follow.

Even the programmed Chat GPT has sung the praises of Harari of the WEF for his humanitarian efforts.

As a side note, it is my personal opinion that Harari is working hard to reclaim his reputation with his proliferation of books and YouTube posts. Discerning individuals will know better.

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them — bringing swift destruction on themselves.”

Peter 2:1

The globalists push for mass control of the world’s population using threats, illegal incarcerations, devious and invasive technology, brainwashing, endless expensive wars, poisons, torture, euthanasia, and systemic methods like 15-minute cities.

The state will raise your children unless they tag them for sexual pleasure.  In that case, they take your children from you completely – as they already are.

You will remain in the 15-minute space allotted to you.  You will ingest tainted, fake food and harmful shots.  They will ration your water and electricity if you are lucky enough to have any.

You won’t need that church on the corner anymore.  They are taking land from those who live in fly-over-country. People displaced by this land grab will live in the new, standardized ‘flats’ where your church or synagogue once stood.

You will own nothing, and you will not be happy. Instead, you will be broken, sick, and submissive.

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

Luke 22:34

INTEGRITY

Integrity is a human virtue that incorporates honesty, sound principles or ethics, dependability, trustworthiness, and consistency in beliefs, words, and actions.

Integrity is a game changer.  If you have no integrity, your ability to discern is significantly compromised.

Do you know someone who is not trustworthy?  Not honest? Not dependable?  Inconsistent in beliefs?

You cannot depend on them to be capable of discernment.

But a person of high character, righteousness, and good to the core will be able to discern, assuming all other variables are in place, such as having sufficient, honest information and clear, calm emotions.

“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”

Proverbs 10:9

CONSCIENCE

Conscience and integrity are tightly knotted together in our coat of a thousand colors.

Webster’s Dictionary defines conscience as “a person’s moral sense of right and wrong, viewed as acting as a guide to one’s behaviour.”

To me, conscience is my voice of advice, my internal guide, my bowling lane bumpers. Actions in defiance of this inner guidance can create the dreaded feeling of guilt.

Conscience can be related to culture or religion.  But in a cohesive society, which ours once was, we could assume some commonality regarding conscience among the people.

Acceptable behaviors that were once predominant in our country are being challenged.

  • Murder once was unacceptable. Today we read about honor killings in America, which are, for most of us, still murders.  And there is a significant increase in inner-city shootings in places like Chicago, Detroit, DC, St. Louis, and Philadelphia.
  • Rape was always punishable by law if it could be proven. Today the illegal immigrant who rapes can be found innocent using the ‘I didn’t know it was against the law here’ defense. Or the rapist can be charged, found guilty, and incarcerated, only to be released shortly after that.
  • The right to protect home and family has historically been sacrosanct.  Protecting your home and others today can land you in a legal nightmare, even if it is simply brandishing your gun, which you have the Constitutional right to own, or restraining a violent person. The resulting media attention, attacks, legal charges, and jail sentences can devastate your life. Unlawful judges and others now promote that there is no right to defend yourself, loved ones, or others in danger of bodily injury.
  • Pedophilia and the phenomenon called ‘sexual orientation’ had no place in our cohesive society.  Today, our Biblical morals are brutally attacked, fully equipped with cancel culture threats, harassment, and lawsuits. We are the modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah.

Children, many of whom have already developed some sense of conscience, are being groomed and pressed to discuss uncomfortable sexual orientation topics and act on them. This pressure is made worse by threats if a child tells a parent.   The result is an enormous fear and conflict of conscience within the child.

The radical LGBTQ folks tell us that ‘the fascist right’ are causing mental illness in the trans child because they refuse to acknowledge the child’s true sexuality.  They claim this creates a societal scourge on the child and massive internal conflict.

In truth, these children are forced to keep unnatural secrets. The Allied spies in Nazi Germany were in much less stressful positions than these unfortunate children.

Yet, the extreme of the LGBTQ says that ‘the fascist right’ are responsible for the rising suicide rate among these children.

A vocal group in the LGBTQ community seem to have a groupthink thing going on.  They cannot discern that their grooming and encouragement create psychological problems, including a severe conflict of conscience, not to mention increased family stress.

For trans kids, theirs is a life-long internal conflict because their physical change will be with them forever.  There is no ‘turning-back’ solution.  Long-term traumatic stress disorder, or worse, could be their fate.

These radical LGBTQ folks are creating and exasperating enormous mental problems for our society’s most precious and vulnerable.

We are creating a tribe of future Sybils, and they will mostly be incapable of discerning.

Will these children ever have a healthy conscience again or a normal life?  What happens if they don’t?

Transitioning is a diabolical social and biological experiment.  But ‘experiment’ isn’t the correct word.  An experiment, by definition, must have a hypothesis.  There is no stated hypothesis in the trans experiment.

There is, however, an expectation of profit. Drug companies and shareholders will make money, an annuity of filthy money.  Doctors, psychiatrists, and psychologists, all charged with providing healthcare, will make bank, too.  And for the exhibitionist drag queens? They get the attention they so desperately crave.

“When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. ‘I have sinned,’ he said, ‘for I have betrayed innocent blood.’ ‘What is that to us?’ they replied. ‘That’s your responsibility.’ So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.”

Matthew 27:3-5

THE CRUX OF THE MATTER

Many non-discerning people, including Biden, say we are simply experiencing growing pains for, you know, the BUILD BACK BETTER.  They intimate that we are conscientiously improving a disgustingly inequitable, non-inclusive, and polluting society.

Hogwash.

None of this is good.  I repeat.  None of this is good.

And none of this is occurring by happenstance, absolutely none of it.

The very fabric of our society that was honorable, good, and wise is being decimated in plain, painful view.  But more than being destroyed, it is being replaced with evil.

Here is the unpopular and honest crux of the matter:  many among us believe they are superior to God – if He even exists.

God is being obliterated from our societal consciousness, except to scorn, mock, and demonize.  It is incredible how we erroneously demonize God and join forces with the actual demons.

Flanked by their apostate sheep, our globalist elites tell us by word and deed that God is their intellectual inferior.  This is more proof that ‘the fish stinks from the head.’

These globalist leaders believe they are superior to God, the God who placed the beating heart in their chests and the blood that flows within their bodies. How stupid they are!

They conspire to annihilate our bedrock. They plot and act to destroy and control our beliefs, morals, way of life, and even the very physicality of our bodies.  But have no doubt God will deal with them directly.

The Being that created the unending power of the oceans, the radiant, life-giving heat of the sun, the dramatic magnificence of the mountains and heavens, and the beautiful innocent minds, bodies, and souls of our children will have none of what we are becoming.

Until God resumes his rightful place in our society, there will be a lack of discernment and peace. There will be pain.  Although significant, the eight contributing factors for the lack of wisdom discussed above are secondary.

The evil self-righteous ones will stop at nothing, including mass murder, abortion, war, enslaving digital currency, euthanasia, political prisoners, drug addiction, famine, poison, and more advanced torture, to achieve their goals.

These oppressors have torn down the gates, and they are inside. They are in our midst. They have already destroyed much. While we watch, they ravage more.  Don’t delude yourself otherwise.

Many of us are in the good fight, but the battle is vicious, and many good souls sit on the sidelines, acquiescing.   Yet we need multitudes of truth speakers.

Christians, your time is now.  It is time to be a voice for your faith.

Pay attention.  Become a prayer warrior at a minimum. Read the Bible. Find more like-minded Christians. Ask probing questions of the apostates to help them see their illogical conclusions. Safeguard your children.

Speak no falsehoods and agree to none.  Speak truth to the apostates, including our politicians, errant teachers, and wayward religious.

I am not saying that your speaking the truth as an individual will likely alter the positions of your teachers’ union, the drag queens’ obsession with our children, the wokeness of our military leaders, or the tyranny of our intelligence agencies and State Department.  I am not saying that speaking truth to power will alter the irresponsible spending of our government, the warmongers, or the political corruption.  It is not going to stop the sex trafficking of children, either.

But if you can capture the attention of one person as you speak, they may give pause.  They may stop to think. You may trigger a memory from childhood or a history class once taken. Or you may trigger a silent question, then another, and another.  You may open their mind to think, really think.

This could be the first step toward that individual’s thinking critically, outside of their tribe and its groupthink. You can put them on the road to discernment, the gift from God that can be ours for the asking.

Know that God is needed if Babylon is to be saved.  Put on the armor of God and stay strong in the Lord.

God is waiting for a discerning and praying flock. How much more time will we make Him wait?

Our time is at hand.

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse, and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, he doth judge and make war.  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns, and he had a name written, that no man knew but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon the white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
